Caserio & Baldwin finish in the top 20 at the MPSF open water championship

LONG BEACH, Calif. -Â A sunny and clear Saturday morning in Long Beach, Fresno state swim team took on the open water at Marine Stadium.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
In a field of 42 swimmers for the women's 5k, Madison Caserio and Riley Baldwin surged to the finish line for a top 20 finish. Caserio finished in 14th place with a time of 01:03.40 and Baldwin finished 19th place with a time of 01:05.31.
The Bulldogs all earned personal bests in their first open water competition and in the first open water competition in MPSF conference history. Four other Mountain West opponents placed above Caserio in the women's 5k.Â
'Dogs continued to make a strong first impression at the MPSF open water championship in the women's 2k relay.Â
Keeping the Bulldog spirit going, the 'Dogs swam fast finishing in third and fourth place out of 11 relay teams, with only seconds separating the A and B relays.Â
Head coach Jeanne Fleck, says, "We are pleased to be a part of MPSF first open water competition, we're excited on how our team performed. I think they did a great job in the water."Â
