Nine 'Dogs land on Phil Steele's Preseason All-MW team

FRESNO, Calif. - The 2023 edition of Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine saw nine Bulldogs earn recognition by one of college football's top information gurus. The Bulldogs' preseason All-Mountain West honors are broken down by six defensive and three offensive picks.

Fifth-year senior linebacker Levelle Bailey and fourth-year senior offensive lineman Mose Vavao led the Bulldogs as first team picks by Steele. Bailey and Vavao enter 2023 as Fresno State's leaders in career starts as Bailey has a team-high 36 and Vavao has 29 at their respective positions.

Joining Vavao as offensive selections by Steele were third team selection Erik Brooks (WR) and fourth team selection Malik Sherrod (RB).

The Bulldog defense was represented in every level on the field as Johnny Hudson Jr. (DL) and Carlton Johnson (CB) were second team picks. Nickelback Morice Norris was a third team pick, and linebacker Malachi Langley and cornerback Cam Lockridge rounded out as fourth team picks.

Steele ranked Fresno State's linebacker unit as the top in the conference, and the Bulldogs defensive back group as second.
