LEXINGTON, KY – The Fresno State volleyball team has been named United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award recipients, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs that strive for excellence in the classroom by earning at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average in the 2022-23 school year.
The Bulldogs have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for four consecutive years, and 12 of the last 14 seasons.
"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."
Fresno State stands along with six other Mountain West programs to also win the award for 22-23 (UNLV, Colorado State, Utah State, New Mexico, Boise State, & Wyoming).
"Fresno State Athletics - Elevate: Imagine the Possibilities" - The Elevate Campaign provides a visionary roadmap to enhance and construct a series of athletic facilities to help further position Fresno State Athletics for sustained competitive success nationally, while also further serving as a source of pride and economic growth throughout California's Central Valley.
