Kobayashi, Vyshkina finish competition at Battle in the Bay

SAN FRANCISCO - Fresno State's Mariya Vyshkina and Misaki Kobayashi opened the Bulldogs' fall 2023 season with a showing at the historic Battle in the Bay Classic at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco last weekend.

Vyshkina and Kobayashi defeated Pacific's Tomi Main and Klara Kosan on the opening day in doubles to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Oklahoma State's Ange Oby Kajuru and Ayumi Miya Moto on day two.

Both Bulldogs also gained valuable experience in singles against tough competition, while they also added exhibition doubles competition later in the weekend.

The fall season continues for the Bulldogs this weekend at the Cal Fall Invitational and the ITA All-Americans.
