FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno State will close out 2024 on Tuesday evening, hosting New Mexico on New Year's Eve at the Save Mart Center. It is the second time the two programs have met on NYE with the Lobos winning 76-54 at The Pit on Dec. 31, 2014.

Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. PT and will stream on the Mountain West Network.

QUICK LOOK

Tuesday will mark the sixth time in the Division I era (1970-71) that the Bulldogs will play on New Year's Eve.
While the 'Dogs are 1-4 on NYE, that one win came in their lone home game, a 77-76 win over Nevada on Dec. 31, 2016.
Fresno State last played on NYE in 2022, a 67-54 defeat at Utah State.
Returning home on Tuesday, Fresno State has seen three of its four wins this season come at the Save Mart Center.
The Bulldogs played seven of its 11 nonconference games away from home. That matched San Jose State for the most nonconference games away from its home court.
Fresno State has trailed at the half in 12 of 13 games.
Struggling from beyond the arc in the first third of the season, the Bulldogs have begun to heat up, making 38 3-pointers in their last four games (9.5 per game). They had made just 52 in their first nine games.
Zaon Collins leads the team in points (12.8), assists (4.2) and steals (2.4) per game, and is third in rebounding (4.3). He has been a pest at the other end where he is second in the Mountain West in steals.
Elijah Price is second in the MW in offensive rebounds, grabbing 3.08 per game, and is third in the conference overall with 8.2 per game.
Vance Walberg's high-tempo style has the Bulldogs seventh in the nation in adjusted tempo, averaging 74.2 possessions per 40 minutes.
Walberg is one of four current Division I head coaches who was a high school head coach the season before taking over their current head coaching position (Penny Hardaway, Bucky McMillan, Stan Waterman).

BY THE NUMBERS
48.9 - In the last two games, Fresno State is shooting 48.9% from 3 (23-of-47).
6.1 - Fresno State has been outscored by 6.1 points per game in the first half. The 'Dogs have trailed in 12 of 13 games.

LET THE THREES FALL
Struggling to score from 3 for the majority of the season, Fresno State's shots have begun to fall from outside as of late. Since knocking down 12 3-pointers at BYU on Dec. 11, the Bulldogs have made 38 3's in their last four games (9.5 per game). Prior to that, they made 52 in their first nine games (5.8).

Fresno State had not made double-digit 3-pointers in a game until Dec. 11 and has three such games since.
In the last two games, the 'Dogs are shooting 48.9% from 3 with 23 made 3's.

A SECOND-HALF TEAM
Fresno State has proved to be a second-half team this year, scoring 511 of its 924 regulation points. The Bulldogs have scored more points in the second half in 10 of their 13 games.

Fresno State has trailed at the half in 12 of its 13 games. Margins have ranged from 1-18 points.
Fresno State has won games when trailing by five (San Diego), seven (Sacramento State) and 11 (Long Beach State) at the half.

BREAKING OUT
With 31 points through his first 12 games as a Bulldog, Jasir Tremble exploded at UNLV on Dec. 28, leading the 'Dogs with 19 points. The junior connected on 5-of-7 from deep in 22 minutes.

Tremble's previous high was eight against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 20).
Tremble's five 3-pointers were the most made 3-pointers by a Bulldog in a game since Xavier DuSell made seven at Air Force on Feb. 10, 2024.

FINDING HIS TOUCH
With back-to-back double-digit scoring performances in his first seven appearances of the season, Jalen Weaver got his shooting touch going at BYU with 15 points. The senior followed that up by matching his career high of 19 against San Diego.

Weaver has scored 58 points in his last four games after a season-low two (1-of-8) at Santa Clara.
Weaver has made nine of his 14 3-pointers in the last four games (42.9%, 9-of-21).

SERIES HISTORY

Fresno State leads the all-time series with New Mexico 21-19.
The Bulldogs are 15-4 against the Lobos in the Central Valley.
Fresno State has won eight straight games at the Save Mart Center with its last loss coming on Jan. 2, 2016 (77-62).
