'Dogs stay hot with 8-2 victory over LBSU

FULLERTON, Calif. — The Fresno State softball team kept its winning streak alive with an 8-2 win over Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon at the Judi Garman Classic.Â
The Bulldogs (13-4) recorded their seventh 10-plus hit game of the season, out-hitting the Beach 10-3. Fresno State had four players record multiple hits in the contest.Â
Senior right-handed pitcher Taylor Gilmore went 5.0 innings in the circle while dishing four strikeouts to record her seventh win of the season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Through the first two innings of play, there were three rain delays.Â
LBSU struck first in the top of the second inning. The Beach had three runners on after two walks and a hit-by-pitch, an RBI-groundout would score the first run of the game.Â
Fresno State battled back with one run on three hits in the bottom go the frame. Lauren Almeida had a lead-off single and Kennedy Bunker followed with a walk to put two on base. Emma Martinez belted a double to right field, tying the game. Alyssa Ramirez gave the Bulldogs the lead with a single to the pitcher.Â
The Beach retied the game in the next inning, scoring one run on one hit.Â
Fresno State's offense broke loose in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits. Bunker opened the inning with a single to left field, and Ramirez was hit-by-pitch to put two runners on base. Martinez singled to the shortstop, plating the first run. Natalie Elias and Sophia Medellin made it three consecutive RBI singles. Almeida finished off the inning with a 2-RBI single to center field.Â
The Bulldogs plated the final run of the game in the sixth inning, defeating the Beach 8-2.Â
