FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State grasped their third home loss of the season against the undefeated UNLV Lady Rebels at the Save Mart Center on Wednesday night, 73-48 .Â
How it happenedÂ
It was a 2-2 start in the first minute and a half as Mariah Elohim landed a jumper in the paint. Bulldogs grabbed their first lead of the night after Mia Jacobs' short trip to the line 2-2. 'Dogs sparked a 6-0 run with back-to-back threes by Jacobs and Saga Ukkonen to take a 14-9 lead in over thirty seconds. Elohim followed it up for another three-pointer for a six point lead in the final two minutes, 17-11. Bulldogs' six point lead slipped in the final minute, hanging by a one point advantage after the first ten, 17-16.Â
Lady Rebels took over the lead to start the second quarter with a 9-3 run through the first five minutes. Through the first quarter and a half neither team scored a basket off a second chance shot and had only one offensive rebound as fifteen minutes passed. Lady Rebels flipped the switch on a 5-0 run to take a 12 point lead going into the half. Malaya LeSueur got one back in for a layup in the final minute. Fresno State headed into the half down by sixteen shooting 36% from the field (9-of-25).Â
Kylee Fox chucked one in to beat the shot clock opening on a 5-0 run with Elohim joining in for a three-pointer. True freshmen Danae Powell stepped up to add in back-to-back second chance shots and a deep three on a solo 7-0 run.
