'Dogs sweep San Jose State at home

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team delivered a dominant performance inside the Save Mart Center on Saturday afternoon, sweeping San Jose State 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) to secure its first Mountain West win at home this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out strong to open the match, jumping to an early 9-3 lead behind a balanced attack that included kills from Addison Haluska, Jenna Legault, and Brooklyn Washington. Haluska was dominant from the start, connecting on multiple clean swings to keep the Bulldogs in front. San Jose State clawed back late to make it a one-point game at 20-19, but the 'Dogs closed on a 5-3 run, capped by a Spartan attack error, to take the opening set 25-22. Haluska led the way with nine kills and no errors in the frame as Fresno State hit .282 as a team.
The second set was tightly contested throughout, featuring 10 ties and five lead changes. Fresno State relied on steady offense from Haluska and Madison Pulsipher, while Gabby Lombardi kept the attack balanced with crisp distribution. With the score tied at 21-21, Fresno State surged ahead thanks to back-to-back kills from Haluska and a San Jose State attack error. A block by Addison Williams and Pulsipher sealed the 25-22 win. The Bulldogs hit .231 in the set while holding the Spartans to .114.
San Jose State grabbed the early momentum with a 5-1 start, but Fresno State quickly responded with a 7-2 run fueled by strong serving from Clara Garcia and another series of kills from Haluska. The Bulldogs maintained control through the middle stages, with Legault and Pulsipher adding key points at the net. Leading 20-19, Fresno State finished strong—Haluska hammered home the final two kills to complete the sweep, 25-21. The Bulldogs hit .263 in the final frame and finished the match with a .259 hitting percentage overall.
