FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State wrapped up its home slate on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center, falling 3–0 (15–25, 20–25, 21–25) to Boise State in a Mountain West matchup.
The Bulldogs totaled 42 kills and hit .255 as a team, but the Broncos' efficiency at the net proved too much as the visitors hit .348 and finished with 49 kills and nine blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Boise State opened the match with an early serving run and quickly built a multi-point cushion. Despite six early kills from Addison Haluska, Fresno State struggled to slow the Broncos' offense, which hit .533 in the opening frame. A brief Bulldog push midway through the set cut the deficit to six, but Boise State responded with four straight points to close out the set.
The Bulldogs responded well out of the break, jumping ahead 3–0 behind back-to-back aces from Brooklyn Washington. Fresno State continued to pressure, forcing ties at 6–6, 8–8, and 17–17 thanks to intense swings from Haluska and Jenna Legault. Boise State, however, put together a key 6–1 run late in the set, using three blocks and an ace to take control. Haluska finished with seven kills in the frame as Fresno State hit .100.
Fresno State again battled closely throughout, producing six ties and showing strong offensive balance. Haluska continued her dominant outing, while Washington and Legault chipped in critical points to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance. Boise State edged ahead behind a pair of late kills from Sydney Dreves and Kailyn Jager, closing out the match despite Fresno State hitting .262 in the final set.
