Fresno State falls by one in battle with USC Upstate

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State came up just short in a one-point thriller Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center, falling 67–66 to USC Upstate in the Bulldogs' second game of the 2025–26 season.
The Bulldogs are now 1-1 on the season after defeating Fresno Pacific to open the year on Monday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs (1–1) led 36–25 at halftime after shooting 41 percent from the field and converting six free throws before the break. Fresno State built its advantage with balanced scoring and strong defensive play, forcing 11 turnovers in the opening half.
In the second half, the Spartans (1–1) found their rhythm, shooting 61 percent from the floor after halftime. USC Upstate used a 10–0 run midway through the second period to erase the deficit and take its first lead since the early minutes. The Bulldogs had chances in the final minute but came up just short on their final possession.
