USAFA, Colo. -Â The Fresno State women's tennis team ended their weekend on the road defeating Air Force at the Academy on Sunday afternoon, 4-2.Â
How it happenedÂ
Air Force was on the board first, after winning the doubles point. Matilde Magrini and Paulina Montiel fell first to Houwelin /Kojonroj, 6-1. Falcons clinched the point after defeating Charlotte Gisclon and Gianna Mastro six games to one.
Fresno State jumped on the first two singles points. Sofia Pizzoni called game first at court two, winning six games to one in straight sets. Andjela Lopicic closed in on the second singles point of the day. Lopicic also finished in straight sets, defeating Mavor (6-3, 6-1). Air Force tied the match up with a win on court three. Gisclon suffered her first conference loss of the season to Houwelin, the junior won two games in the first set (6-2, 6-0). Bulldogs hemmed in on the next two points.Â
Magrini was next on the points at the top singles spot. Magrini defeated Odum seven games to five in the first set and six games to four in the second. Montiel grabbed the final point on court five, for her tenth singles win this season. Montiel defeated Selven in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).Â
