9/20/2025 10:10:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team completed the Central Cal Challenge on Saturday with a four-set loss to Sacramento State at the Nest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets took the lead quickly in the first set, putting the Bulldogs in a six-point deficit at 18-12. Fresno State went on a 6-1 run powered by serves from Olivia Lombardi to tie the match at 22. Despite being outkilled 12-8 in the first set, the Bulldogs came back to secure the win at 25-23.
The second set was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to create separation until late. Jenna Legault and Haluska provided steady offense on the pins, and the Bulldogs stayed within one at 22–21 before the Hornets used three straight points to close out the frame and even the match.
Sacramento State's offense took over in the third, hitting .593 while limiting Fresno State's rhythm. Despite strong swings from Legault, Haluska and Brooklyn Washington, the Bulldogs couldn't keep pace and dropped the set 25-15.
In the fourth, Fresno State looked to rally behind contributions from freshman Maddison Pulsipher and setter Gabby Lombardi's balanced distribution, but the Hornets maintained control, building a mid-set lead and holding off the Bulldogs 25-17 to clinch the match.
NOTES
The Bulldogs will return home to open conference play against San Diego State on September 25th at 6 p.m. PT.
