SACRAMENTO - The Fresno State women's tennis team fell in a tight contest with Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon at the Sacramento State Tennis Courts, 4-3.Â
How it happened
Fresno State had ground to make up after dropping the doubles point. Bulldog pair Klara Vukicevic and Paulina Montiel's match was left unfinished at four games all. Eliza Dunbar and Sofia Pizzoni fell two games to six while Louna Cormier and Andjela Lopicic fell three games to six.Â
Montiel secured the first point for the Bulldogs on court three taking the win in two sets 6-1, 6-0. Vukicevic earned a win in the first set, 6-2, but fell in three. Bulldogs put forth a strong second set with three players forcing a third set showdown. Pizzoni and Dunbar claimed the next two singles points in the third set. Pizzoni defeated Walker in the top singles flight 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. Dunbar defeated Gutierrez 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.Â
