Oke sets program record as 'Dogs sit sixth

HOUSTON - The Fresno State swim and dive team set two new program records on the second day of competition at the CRWC Natatorium. Bulldogs sit in sixth with 340 points.Â
How it happenedÂ
Eight Bulldogs qualified into Thursday night's finals with two representing Fresno State in a championship final.Â
Hayley Oke opened the finals session with a standout time of 53.49 to hold the newest program record in the 100 butterfly. Oke would take ninth overall in the event. Franzi Djatej made her first championship finals appearance, also in the 100 butterfly. Djatej finished the event in sixth place with a new personal best time of 53.76. Laura Kalmar and Ava Elliott take eighth in their respective heats of the 400 IM.
Three Bulldogs were present in the bonus heat of the 200 freestyle. Samantha Arredondo placed 21st (1:50.62) on a new personal best, while Riley Bladwin took 23rd (1:50.66) and Marija Rutkauskaite was 24th (1:50.67). Natalia Bedolla made her second championship appearance this time in the 3-meter springboard, the senior scored 305.85 on six dives.Â
The 200 medley relay featuring Mackenzie Miller Lung, Sienna Cheng Lucey, Hayley Oke and Jenna Pulkkinen bested their previous record to 1:31.33 to take eighth in the event.Â
Up Next: The third day of competition begins Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. PT with the 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, team dive, 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay.Â
