'Dogs host tri-meet to finish regular season

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team closes out its home slate with a tri-meet, hosting UT Martin and Baylor at the Student Horse Center this weekend.

Keepin' it in the family
The current Bulldog roster has a handful of familiar names on it. Isabella Bertozzi enters her third season with the Bulldogs as the younger sister of former Bulldog standout Ana Bertozzi. Freshmen Lucia Nunes, Lilly Gilson and Addison Mathias are all following in the footsteps of their older sisters. Lucia, the younger sister of current Bulldog Mia Nunes, gets to share the experience with her sister for one year. Gilson is the younger sister of former Bulldog reiner Shea Gilson (2016-20) while Mathias is the younger sister of Grace Mathias who completed her final year of eligibility last season.

From Bulldog standout to coach
Fresno State assistant jumping seat coach Sara Tuck graduated with her MBA from Fresno State in December. Tuck, who was a decorated Bulldog equestrian herself, has since begun her coaching career with the Bulldogs. She reflects on her experience here.

- Fresno State closes out its home slate against UT Martin and Baylor this weekend
- The Bulldogs are fresh off of a 1-1 road trip weekend, earning their first-ever win at Oklahoma State on Friday (10-9)
- Fresno State has started the spring season with a 3-1 record falling only to No. 7 TCU on the road
- The Bulldogs are 4-1 at home this season
- If Fresno State were to win both meets this weekend, the six home wins would be the most for the Bulldogs since the 2019-20 season and would tie the single season program record
- Fresno State checked in at No. 8 in the NCEA Selection Committee rankings for another week. The Bulldogs look to hold on the the No. 8 spot in the national rankings as the Top 8 teams advance to the NCEA National Championship
- The Bulldogs look for their first trip to the NCEA National Championship at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla. since the 2021-22 season
- Fresno State has faced eight ranked opponents this season
- Sophomore Paris Mahoney was named the Big 12 Co-Flat Rider of the Month for February
- UT Martin has a pair of former Bulldogs on staff in assistant coaches Caitlin Marshall and Alexis Steele. Marshall was a Bulldog student-athlete from 2007-11 and was an assistant coach under Eric Hubbard from 2017-22. Steele was also a Bulldog student-athlete from 2018-22 and is in her first year coaching with the Skyhawks.

- Fresno State is 47-34-9 in the western events this season
- The Bulldogs have 25 wins in horsemanship and 22 in reining
- The senior duo of Abby Goddard and Shelby Robinette lead the Bulldogs with six horsemanship wins apiece
- Goddard leads the team with three MOPs in the horsemanship. She has the most MOPs among any Bulldog in any event this season
- Goddard earned her third MOP of the season at No. 6 Oklahoma State last time out. She scored a career-high 79.75 in her ride, the highest ride by a Bulldog since 2022 and the third-highest ride in program history
- Aubrey Gerdes and Hailey Olson have five wins each
- Gerdes has two MOPs and Olson has one
- Robinette and Brogan Hill are pacing the 'Dogs in the reining with five wins each
