Brian Amuneke returns to Fresno State roster

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's basketball team and Head Coach Vance Walberg are pleased to announce the return of Brian Amuneke to the Bulldog roster for the 2026-27 season.
Amuneke, a 6-foot-6 guard from Los Angeles, California, began his college career at Fresno State in the 2024-25 season. In his initial stint as a Bulldog, Amuneke saw action in 29 games with six starts. He averaged 7.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, ranking fifth in the Mountain West in 3-point percentage among players with at least two attempts per game. Amuneke was third in freshman scoring in the conference and posted 10 double-figure scoring games, all in MW games.
After his freshman season, Amuneke transferred to Wichita State, where he played for one season. He played in 36 games for the Shockers, totaling 85 points and 26 rebounds. Following his sophomore campaign, Amuneke entered the portal for a second time and chose to return to Fresno State. He is the first Fresno State athlete to enter the portal and then return after playing for another school.
Amuneke played three seasons at Rancho Christian High School under current Fresno State assistant coach Ray Barefield. In addition, he was the 2024-25 Ivy League Player of the Year and helped the Eagles to back-to-back Ivy championships. Out of high school, he was a three-star prospect and 29th-ranked player in the Class of 2024 in California, according to 247sports.
