Bulldogs in ninth at MW Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Fresno State men's golf team finished day one of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Golf Championship in ninth place. The team posted an overall score of 2-under 286 on the Omni Tucson National Resort, Catalina Course on Sunday.
No. 39 San Diego State leads the pack at 15-under, with Wyoming (13-under), San Jose State (11-under), and Grand Canyon (10-under) rounding out the top four. No. 43 UNLV (9-under), Nevada ( 8-under), No. 21 New Mexico (6-under) and Colorado State (5-under) make up the middle of the standings, while Fresno State (2-under), Boise State (1-under), AIr Force (6-over), and Utah State (12-over) conclude the field.
Jaden Hunter was the low Bulldog through the first round, shooting 3-under with seven birdies to place him in a tie for 11th heading into the second round of the championship tournament.
Chris Bettencourt sits just outside the top 20 in a tie for 21st after posting a score of 1-under 71 with four birdies. Von Wasson carded an even-par 72 with five birdies as the sophomore ended his day tied for 34th.
Zack Tarter shot 2-over and is tied for 46th, while Nash Arthurs wrapped up his day tied for 56th at 5-over.

Fresno State will begin the second round of the championship tournament at 7:00 a.m. PT, and will be paired alongside New Mexico and Colorado State in groups 11-15.
