FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's golf head coach Chad Spencer has announced the addition of Jake Bettencourt as the program's assistant coach on Tuesday.
Bettencourt, a native of Clovis, California, spent five seasons with the men's golf program at Fresno State from 2021-2026 where he competed in 21 tournaments throughout his career. As a freshman, he received MW player of the week honors after finishing 43rd at the El Macero Classic on April 22, 2022.
Bettencourt followed his freshman season by producing a 73.78 season scoring average as a sophomore, the lowest of his collegiate career.
In his final season with the Bulldogs, Bettencourt recorded a career-best seventh place finish at the Watney Invitational while shooting 3-under 69 in the final round, matching the lowest round of his career.
Bettencourt graduated from Fresno State in 2025 with his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a Sports Administration Option, and is currently pursuing his master's degree at Fresno State in the same discipline.
"We are so excited that Jake will be our new assistant coach!", said Spencer. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to the program. He understands our standards and culture here at Fresno State and will be a great fit. Can't wait to get started in a few weeks with Coach Bettencourt!"
