Bettencourt named assistant coach

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's golf head coach Chad Spencer has announced the addition of Jake Bettencourt as the program's assistant coach on Tuesday.

Bettencourt, a native of Clovis, California, spent five seasons with the men's golf program at Fresno State from 2021-2026 where he competed in 21 tournaments throughout his career. As a freshman, he received MW player of the week honors after finishing 43rd at the El Macero Classic on April 22, 2022.

Bettencourt followed his freshman season by producing a 73.78 season scoring average as a sophomore, the lowest of his collegiate career.

In his final season with the Bulldogs, Bettencourt recorded a career-best seventh place finish at the Watney Invitational while shooting 3-under 69 in the final round, matching the lowest round of his career.

Bettencourt graduated from Fresno State in 2025 with his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a Sports Administration Option, and is currently pursuing his master's degree at Fresno State in the same discipline.
