Chelsea Czinksi won the Fresno County Amateur title by five strokes after shooting consecutive rounds of 73 at the Fig Garden Golf Club.
Czinksi, who will be a senior on the Bulldog team this fall, has been one of the most consistent players on the team dating back to her freshman season when she helped the Dogs to a WAC title and the schools' Â first NCAA tournament appearance. During this past season, her junior campaign, she had a scoring average of 79.32 and made 32 birdies on the season, both good for fourth-best on the team.
She's among several golfers on the mens' and women's teams competing on courses this summer.

 Sutherland One to Watch
Two Bulldogs, Nick Watney and Kevin Sutherland, will be competing in the AT&T National at the Aronimink Golf Club near Philadelphia starting Thursday.
According to PGA Tour.com's Mike McAllister, Kevin Sutherland is his "sleeper" pick to win the tournament. Sutherland has one PGA tour victory in his career and has quietly accumulated nearly $15 million on the tour.
 He tied for 13th last weekend at the Traveler's Tournament, his fifth Top 20 finish this season, and he leads the PGA Tour in greens in regulation.
            Finally back from my adventure to the Galapagos Islands I wanted to let you know how it was and what I have planned for the rest of my summer. So, I will start with the trip!
           It was fantastic! The best part of the trip was how close you could get to the animals without them caring in the least! There were many different types of birds and reptiles on the islands but none of them fear humans as a predator so they don't mind you stepping right over them. There were many times that Marine Iguanas and Sea lions were sleeping across the path and didn't even move as we approached. Among my favorite animals we saw were the Blue Footed Boobies, penguins, and the Galapagos Sea Lions. We only spotted a few penguins as it was the end of their season in the region, but all the other animals were abundant!  One morning I was even able to see a Blue Whale surface and dive a few times as well as a few pods of dolphins! Living on a floating hotel for a week was also an experience but it was a lot of fun getting to know the other passengers as well as the crew. While on board we woke up early everyday, but we were also privileged to a midday siesta almost everyday, and boy could I get used to that lifestyle!
           Now that I am back safely on land and in the United States I don't have many plans for the rest of the summer. However, I will be busy working as a lifeguard on Canandaigua Lake, taking a summer school class, of course getting all of my summer workouts in, and hopefully fitting in a lot of pick up lacrosse! One of the great things about home is that everyone plays lacrosse and I don't need to look far for someone to play catch with or someone to shoot on me!

objectives, Steve developed a philosophy that each step he took would be a
building block for the program to be primed for the present and future.

"Built to Last," based on the book by James Collins and Jerry I. Porras. This approach is rooted in the central
concept that we each have the ability to leave our society a better place.
As the Cleveland
Era enters its sixth season for the Bulldogs, the culture of the basketball
program has been significantly resurrected.
His basketball program achieved the nation's largest Academic
Progress Rate (APR) improvement, recorded the graduation of the most student-athletes in
the program's history, returned all scholarships
and practice time, and cultivated the first Academic All-District
honoree (two-time winner Nedeljko Golubovic).

Paul George has been dreaming of this moment since he
first picked up a basketball. When his
name was called earlier tonight as the 10th pick in tonight's 2010 NBA Draft, the beginning of the next stage of his life officially
started.
The journey to arrive at this opportunity began in
Palmdale, Calif. where Paul learned the game by tapping into his natural talent
and unmatched drive to compete at the highest level.
As a spring signee in April 2008, the Bulldogs' head
coach Steve Cleveland knew he had secured a gem.
"Paul is versatile and very long," Cleveland
said at the time of George's signing to an Athletic Aid Agreement. "He has
the ability to play multiple positions. He can rebound and shoot the three. He
has a huge upside because of his length and size."
Paul George, who competed for the Bulldog men's
basketball team from 2008-10 for two seasons, will travel to New York City for
Thursday night's 2010 NBA Draft in Madison Square Garden.
As the 2010 College World Series is days away, many Bulldog fans think back and can remember that it was just two years ago that Fresno State was headed to Omaha, Neb. Everyone remembers the magical and historical run to the Bulldogs first national title in baseball. ESPNU has decided to share and relive the memories by replaying the 'Dogs third game of the CWS on Friday, June 18 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
The Bulldogs went 5-2 at the CWS in 2008 and won the national title for the first time in program history. Tom Mendonca tied a CWS record by hitting four home runs and was named the Most Outstanding Player. Steve Detwiler drove in all six runs in the championship game with two home runs and double. Detwiler also made the game-winning catch in right field.
All the action of the 2010 CWS series starts Saturday, June 19.

this segment comes from a very close friend of mine (love ya JG!) who brought
up Hall of Fame rocker Alice Cooper. As
many of you loyal viewers of American Idol (AI) saw on the season finale,
Cooper led off an amazing show filled with unbelievable talent!

While not a diehard fan of Cooper, I do appreciate his
ode to that age old cherished last day of classes ballad, "School's Out
for Summer."Â While typing away, I
just can't seem to get the lyrics of that song out of my head "No more
pencils, No more books, No more teacher's dirty looks."
I began contemplating what goes on in the summer. Unless we're taking to the hardwood, most of
you have no idea what makes up the days of our student-athletes and coaches
outside of the traditional school year.Â
Well that all ends today as I give you the official 2010 Bulldog Women's
Basketball Fun in the Sun Summer Breakdown.
On May 21 final exams were concluded thus completing the Spring 2010 semester.
May 22, 2010 was a very special day as four Bulldog Women's Basketball players dressed in cap and gown, walked across the stage to the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance," and received their diploma! Congrats go out to Shay, JoJo, Lil B, and J!!!
I was busy packing what seemed like a lifetime worth of belongings, which in reality was only a year's worth, into two suitcases when Steve Schaack called me and offered me the opportunity write this, a blog of sorts, keeping everyone updated with my summer. So, here I am, writing and packing again. This time I am packing for my first adventure of the summer. In a few days I will leave Canandaigua and fly to Miami and on to the Guayaquil, where I will board the Nation Geographic Explorer boat for an exciting ten day adventure to the Galapagos Islands.
               I am lucky enough to be going on the awesome trip as a graduation present from my Aunt. Of course, I graduated a year ago, but last summer was overwhelmingly busy, and consequently we pushed the trip off to this summer. I do not really know what to expect with the trip but I hope to encounter penguins and giant tortoises amongst other animals and climb a volcano during the adventure. I should have the chance to explore some jungle areas with lots of different bird species as well as go snorkeling to see many different fish!
               The Islands are located off the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean. The total resident population of the Island chain is about 22,000 people, which is the size of Fresno State! The natural spoken language in the area is Spanish and it should be about 80 degrees while I am there. Needless to say, I am ecstatic for the trip! And, I look forward to sharing the experience with you when I return!

After my first year of college basketball, I have
realized that success at this level takes more than just pure athletic ability.
In order to reach your full potential as a Division 1
athlete at Fresno State, a student-athlete has to be committed in the classroom
and also on the court. As a new Bulldog,
I had to learn how to balance competing with my talented teammates for playing
time and staying dedicated in the classroom.Â
I found myself on several different occasions barely getting the job
done on both ends, athletically and academically, but as my school year
progressed, I found myself getting used to balancing the two. Â I feel like
I ended up in great standing on the court, and most importantly, in the
classroom.

Lexi Watson wrote in after her graduation to provide us with some graduation photos and what she has been up to since concluding her volleyball career and education at Fresno State.
Lexi: I will be taking several road trips. I will be driving to New Mexico with Clay and his family and then we will be driving to Montana and stopping in Oregon on the way. We plan on doing a lot of fishing, enjoying the lake and stopping to see friends and family along the way! I also got a head JV coaching job in Visalia at El Diamante (volleyball of course) so I will be helping out with their summer practices until season starts. In August my Teaching credential program begins in Visalia. Â

For the second consecutive season, Danielle Lawrie of the
University of Washington has been named the USA Softball Collegiate
Player of
the Year. The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America presented
the
senior pitcher/hitter from Langley, B.C., with the award earlier this
evening
at the Opening Ceremony of the NCAA Women's College World Series in
Oklahoma
City, Okla.

Over the past eight seasons, the Western Athletic
Conference has tracked the performance of each of its member schools through a
race for an annual Commissioner's Cup based on the collective achievements in
each of the 18 WAC-sponsored sports.
Throughout this period, Fresno State has consistently
demonstrated their drive for excellence, with back-to-back first-place finishes
in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 academic years and an average finish of 2.375, by
far the highest of any current WAC institution.Â
The next closest competitors, Boise State and Nevada, have placed an
average of 3.63 and 3.88, respectively, in Cup rankings over the eight
seasons. Overall, the 'Dogs own a
WAC-best 679.5 points for a clip of 84.94 points per academic year.
