Ugne Mazutaityte, a freshman in the Mass Communication and Journalism department emphasizing in public relations, was named the 2015-16 Mountain West Freshman of the Year last weekend, following record-breaking swims at the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas. The Kaunas, Lithuania native won a gold medal in the 200-yard backstroke with a program-record time of 1:54.47 and a bronze medal in the 100-yard backstroke with a program-record time of 54.06 seconds. She is the first Bulldog to win an individual Mountain West championship event since 2013 and the first to medal in two individual conference championship events since the program returned to Fresno State in 2008.
