Fresno, Calif. - Ten Bulldog time capsules will be placed into the base of the 3200-pound bronze Bulldog located at the southeast foyer of the Save Mart Center on Friday, Feb. 27, at 12:15 p.m. The ceremony is hosted by The Bulldog Foundation. The time capsules will remain in the seven-foot tall statue for fifty years until they are reopened in the year 2054.
The ten capsules will contain memorabilia from The Bulldog Foundation, the Women's Bulldog Foundation, and Fresno State students, administration, alumni, athletics and academics, as well as the history of the Save Mart Center. The Bulldog Foundation also organized funding for the team display cases found on both levels of the Save Mart Center. The bronze Bulldog that will hold the capsules measures seven feet tall, seven feet wide and nine feet long. Its base weighs over two tons.
University President John Welty, Bulldog Foundation President Lee Lockhart and representatives of each time capsule will be in attendance.
Editor's note: Interviews can be conducted at the conclusion of the ceremony. Parking for the event is available in the Bulldog Lot east of the Shehadey Tower.
