FRESNO, Calif. - University officials have announced changes for the cheer and dance teams for the 2004-05 seasons, most significantly a transfer of administrative responsibilities for the program from the Division of Student Affairs to the Athletics Department.
Desiree Reed-Francois, Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator who has assisted with planning the transition, agreed, noting; "We want to re-focus the program on getting the fans involved in some great family entertainment, but also want the squad to feel more involved in our intercollegiate athletics programs."
Tryouts for this new-look squad will be held Friday, May 7, 2004 at 5 p.m. in the North Gym on the Fresno State campus. Tryouts for the Time Out mascot are being deferred to later in the Fall.
Questions may be addressed to Teena Shields, interim Spirit Squad supervisor, in the Fresno State Athletics Department, at (559) 278-3178.
