Fresno - After one week of the annual Bulldog Foundation Fund Drive, 2,530 individuals have renewed their memberships, accounting for 34 percent of the overall fund raising goal for the BDF for 2004.
Funds from the Bulldog Foundation are allocated to cover scholarship needs for Bulldog student-athletes. The BDF has been nationally renowned for its fundraising campaign as the top volunteer fund raising group in the nation for 18 consecutive years and has been raising over $7 million annually.
"The Bulldog Foundation Fund Drive is a wonderful event and the largest fund raising project for the Fresno State Athletics Department," said Athletics Director Scott Johnson. "We are very grateful to the hard-working BDF volunteers for their countless hours to work on the fund drive. We are off to a great start and want to keep this momentum building."
New memberships are also being solicited by the BDF volunteers. Al Deniz was the top new dollar winner for the first week, bringing in nearly $7,000 in new memberships. Arpie Dick signed up a total of nine new Bulldog Foundation Members, to lead the new membership category after the first week.
The new and improved Family Value Plans for the 2004 Bulldog Football season are available through BDF Volunteers. During the first week, six Family Value Plans were reported.
Each Thursday, the Bulldog Foundation Volunteers will turn in their reports. BDF volunteers are competing for prizes, including three trips to Hawaii. The fund drive will continue over the next four weeks.
