Fresno - With one week remaining in the annual Bulldog Foundation Fund Drive, 64% of the 2004 goal has been reached. With one week remaining, BDF volunteers are expected to rush to achieve the goal, which would fully fund all athletics scholarships at Fresno State.
The final report night is scheduled for May 27 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the University Foundation Building on Chestnut and Shaw behind Jack-in-Box.
So far 37 of 258 volunteers have made the $500 in new money qualifier for a Hawaiian trip. Joining the list this week were: Bob Buckenberger, Don Cook, Francis Correia, Virginia Dix, Bev Eilefson, Lyman Ehrlich, Brian Ginsburg, Ron Kusch, Walt Reinhardt, Pat Ricchiuti, and Leo Wilson.
Al Deniz continues to lead in both the "new money" and "new members" lists. He has been leading for the majority of the fund drive. The runner-up in the "new money" category will be awarded a trip in case one player tops both trip categories. The next three in line under "new money" are Leo Wilson, Angie DiLiddo and Dennis Poulsen.
BDF players this year were requested to have family plans again available for sale during the fund drive. However, to this point only 27 of a potential 500 or more have been reported. Family Plans are available through fund drive volunteers or the athletics ticket office.
Funds from the Bulldog Foundation are allocated to cover scholarship needs for Bulldog student-athletes. The BDF has been nationally renowned for its fund-raising campaign as the top volunteer fund raising group in the nation for 17 consecutive years and has been raising over $7 million annually.
