Bulldogs Finish Second Among WAC Members Academically for 2004

The Western Athletic Conference announced its all-academic honors for the 2004 spring sports season and Fresno State finished second among all 10 league members as the Bulldogs had 38 student-athletes selected, as announced by the league office this afternoon.
In addition, Fresno State also had 20 student-athletes honored as 2003-04 WAC All-Academic for freshmen and transfers -- a mark that also ranked second among the league schools. However, all 20 Bulldogs honored were freshmen -- a mark that ranks tops in the WAC for the past spring semester. With a total of 341 student-athletes honored by the conference office, the Bulldogs and only one other school had at least 35 honorees.
Men's and women's outdoor track and field led the way for Fresno State as they combined for 21 selections. The women's outdoor track and field squad accounted for 14 honorees, sharing the league's top mark in the WAC by a sport.
To be eligible for WAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
