Nordenschild is New Bulldog Strength & Condition Coach

Fresno, Calif. - With the departure of former Fresno State head strength and conditioning coach Steve Sobonya who is pursuing his own business interests, the Athletic Department announced the hiring of Ed Nordenschild as its newest Bulldog coach.
Having served recently as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Texas at Austin, Nordenschild will be responsible for overseeing the strength and conditioning center, its personnel, while servicing more than 500 student-athletes and strength and conditioning personnel at Fresno State.
Nordenschild, who work with the universitys 10 women sports as well as football, mens basketball and baseball, taught and assessed proper exercise and conditioning techniques at Texas. He also assisted in the workouts for injured student-athletes as well as maintenance and purchase of weight room equipment.
Nordenschild, who also was a graduate assistant at UT for two years, was solely responsible for the Longhorn softball, swimming, track and rowing programs.
In softball, he helped build the Texas program from its inception as a club sport in 1995-96 to a NCAA Womens College World Series appearance in 1998.
In swimming, he helped the team to two conference championships and four top 15 finishes at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Working with the track and field program for three seasons, the team never finished below third at the NCAA Championships and won both the indoor and outdoor nationals titles in 1998.
He assumed the strength training for the womens rowing program in 1998 after being a club sport the year prior. The Varsity Eight and Novice Eight boats recorded top 10 finishes at the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic, Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship, and Midwest Rowing Championships. He also spent two years as a corporate fitness manager with Texas Instruments after spending two years as a physical therapy tech with the Texas Institute of Sports Rehabilitation and Fitness prior to his services at Texas.
A member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American College of Sports Medicine, Nordenschild is certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Associating and the United States Weightlifting Federation.
Nordenschild graduated from Texas-Arlington with a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies and earned his masters degree from Texas in kinesiology with a specialization in exercise science.
