FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's associate athletic director/senior woman administrator Diane Milutinovich was honored as one of Fresno's Top 10 Business Professional Women of the Year at the Fresno Convention Center Ballroom this afternoon.
The Top 10 Business Professional Women of the Year celebrates and recognizes the accomplishments and contributions made to the community by professional women. All proceeds benefit the Marjaree Mason Center. Working to eliminate domestic violence, the Marjaree Mason Center was formed in 1979 and is one of the few shelters in the United States to be named after a person.
On behalf of group independent judges, the Marjaree Mason Center recognizes 10 women who overcome adversity and discrimination and who are also role models and trailblazers. From 1983 through 1992 a single woman was singled out and beginning in 1993 seven classes of 10 women have been recognized before their peers.
Sarah Reyes, 31st District Assemblyperson, served as the keynote speaker.
"Women who care about the community and make a difference are who we are honoring today," Reyes said. "These 10 women are being recognized as individual leaders who made a difference and nothing stopped them. They are focused, they get the job done and leave everything at the door when its comes to finding a solution. These women are leaders, strong-willed and tenacious."
Going through 160 nominees, a group of independent judges selected the 2000 class and announced them before an audience of more than 800 individuals in downtown Fresno.
Milutinovich is Fresno State's first woman athletic administrator honored by the Marjaree Mason Center and the second athletic personnel to be selected (joined Fresno State head softball coach Margie Wright, class of 1998).
