Scholarships Awarded for Academic Achievement

FRESNO, Calif. - For the 16th year in a row, the Bulldog Foundation boosters have earned the title of No. 1 in the nation. This year, members brought in 5,786 pledges for the BDF scholarship drive, amounting to the impressive sum of $7,138,380. Pat Ogle, the BDF executive director, said, "All 6000 Bulldog Foundation members are pleased to see their support recognizing these 21 special student-athletes with a Mr.Bulldog endowed scholarship." This effort guarantees that Bulldog sports, which include over 550 student athletes, will be given the opportunity to participate at the highest level of collegiate sport.
To honor those athletes who excel in academics as well as athletics, the BDF scholarship was established in 1980. Each year, one new scholarship is awarded, preferably to a senior, bringing the 2001 total number of scholarships to 21. The title "Mr. Bulldog Recipient" indicates their current grant-in-aid.
