| Marvelle Harris |
Mountain West scoring leader Marvelle Harris, a communication major, averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game as the junior team captain led Fresno State to a 2-0 record for the week, including a 72-63 win over UC Irvine and a 63-61 road win at Bakersfield. In the win at CSUB, Harris hit the two game-winning free throws with 17.5 seconds left in the game. Harris scored a season-high 29 points - one shy of his career high - to fuel the Bulldogs' offense in the road win at CSUB. In that contest he went 8-for-14 from the field and posted a perfect 10-for-10 clip at the free throw line. He set or tied new season-highs in points (29), 3-pointers made (3), free throws made (10) and free throw attempts (10). In the win over UCI - a 2014 postseason team - Harris had 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals. His 29 points in the win at CSUB tied for the second-highest single-game scoring performance by a MW scorer this season. It also marked the seventh time he scored at least 25 points in his Fresno State career. It also was his 10th career game with at least 20 points and 50th double-digit scoring game. Harris, who plays both point and shooting guard, is one of the most reliable players in the MW - leading the conference in minutes last season and this season. He played 76 of the 80 minutes the Bulldogs played this past week while going 2-0. This season, he leads the MW in scoring (16.4 ppg) and minutes played (36.3 mpg) and ranks in the top ten in rebounding (6.1 rpg), assists (3.4), steals (1.6) and free throw percentage (79.3%). He is also tied for the MW lead with three 20-point games this season. "Be Bold" - Stay connected with Fresno State Athletics on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
