In 18 years at Fresno State, head coach Dennis DeLiddo has compiled a 244-125-5 record. DeLiddo has been named WAC Coach of the Year in four of the past seven seasons. Former Bulldog Gerry Abas is entering his fifth season as assistant coach. Abas, who wrestled for the Bulldogs during 1992-95, became the first four-time All-American in Fresno State history while also topping the record books with the most career wins (134).
Championships
The Bulldog wrestling team is the first in Fresno State history to win seven consecutive Western Athletic Conference Championships. The Bulldogs have dominated the WAC since their induction into the conference in 1992. Fresno State also won Pacific Coast Athletic Conference titles in 1970, 1972, 1985, and 1986.
Individual Honors
Fresno State boasts 99 individual conference champions since 1962. Since the Bulldogs joined the WAC, 34 Fresno State wrestlers have won conference titles. Fresno State has also had 29 All-Americans. Last year, the ?Dogs had three WAC Champions and two All-Americans.
At The NCAA?s
The ?Dogs have placed at the NCAA Championships 17 of 18 years under the direction of DeLiddo. Fresno State has compiled 12 top 25 finishes. The Bulldogs? finest finish came in 1993 where they came home in eighth place. Last year, DeLiddo?s squad finished in 16th place. Fresno State also took 10th place three times at the Division II NCAA Championships in 1964, 1966, and 1968.
