IHSA National Finals History
![]() |
Once granted varsity status in 1996, the Fresno State equestrian team wasted no time in helping to continue the solid athletic tradition at Fresno State.
In just two season the Fresno State equestrian team has shown the ability to compete with many of the top equestrian programs in the nation. The Bulldogs have qualified an English team and 15 individual riders for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Finals and produced just the second individual womenis national champion at Fresno State in sophomore Elissa Lane.
Lane captured the American Quarter Horse Association Trophy in 1998 as the top Western rider in the nation, after being the leading Region I rider during the regular show season.
Fresno State riders have also been honored by the IHSA for their work away from competition. Last year, three Bulldogs were honored by the IHSA during the National Finals Opening Ceremonies for their dedication in the classroom, they included Carol Glosson, Sarah Shepard and Renee Molloy.
