Fresno State-Nevada Postgame Notes
Pregame
• Team Captains: Malik Forrester, Aaron Mitchell, Robert Stanley and Micah St. Andrew
• Nevada won the coin toss and elected to defer.
First Quarter
• Five Bulldogs received their first career starts on offense: QB Marcus McMaryion, RB Jordan Mims, RB Dejonte O’Neal, WR Namani Parker and TE Jared Rice.
• Junior linebacker George Helmuth earned his first career start on defense.
• Jamire Jordan returned the Bulldogs opening kickoff 71 yards – it was the longest kickoff return by a Bulldog since A.J. Jeffereson returned a kickoff for a touchdown 92 yards in 2008.
• Fresno State fumbled for the first time this season as junior running back Dejonte O’Neal laid it on the ground with 9:29 remaining.
• James Bailey blocked Nevada’s first field goal attempt – it was the ‘Dogs second blocked kick of the season. Sherman Coleman Jr. blocked a kick in the 'Dogs season opening win over Incarnate Word.
Second Quarter
• McMaryion connected with Derrion Grim for 63 yards – the second-longest pass play this season behind Josh Hokit’s halfback pass to Jared Rice in the season opener.
• Jaron Bryant returned an interception 18 yards for a touchdown at the 5:05 mark – the first INT returned for a TD since Shannon Edwards did so at Ole Miss on Sept. 12, 2015.
• KeeSean Johnson posted three first half TDs – matching his career-high set vs. Air Force.
Third Quarter
• Ronnie Rivers scored his second career touchdown at the 7:58 mark – five-yard rush. It extended Fresno State’s lead to 38-14.
• Johnny Johnson Jr. recorded his first career interception as a Bulldog – it was the second INT of the game for the Bulldogs, the last time Fresno State registered two picks in the same game was vs. Sacramento State on Sept. 10, 2016.
• KeeSean Johnson surpassed 100 yards receiving for the second time this season, and third time in his career.
Fourth Quarter
• Jaron Bryant recorded his second interception in the game – it was the first time an individual had two picks in the same game since L.J. Jones on Sept. 28, 2013 at Hawai’i.
• Fresno State’s three interceptions are the most in the game since Nov. 14, 2015 at Hawai’i.
