Fresno State vs. Hawai'i Post Game Quotes
Fresno State at Hawai'i
Nov. 11. 2017
Head Coach Jeff Tedford
On the game…“We hung onto one. We had some good times in the game and down the stretch we made a few mistakes that hurt us but thankfully we made an interception at the end of the game to wrap it up.”
On the weather delay…
“I don’t know if it did or it didn’t, it was for both teams. We went in and made some adjustments and came out and get 14 points afterwards, which is critical for us.”
On the weather in Hawai’i…
“You never know what the weather is going to be like. We knew there was going to be rain tonight. We knew yesterday that there was going to be rain off and on throughout the day, felt like it was going to stop around 7 o’clock but we got a little bit of it.”
On what it means…
"It’s just one more win. We’ve got a lot to work on. When we get ahead like then we have to finish the game. We made some critical mistakes during the stretch with some holding penalties; we can’t allow that to happen. It’s always nice to get a win. Down the stretch it wasn’t pretty but you have to appreciate the win."
KeeSean Johnson, WR
On the beginning of the game…
“We had the weather delay that allowed us to go back into the locker room and focus on executing in offense. That’s what it came down to, executing.”
On the weather delay…
“That was my first weather delay, so it was a different experience for me. We had to make sure we stayed warm, but it gave us the opportunity to figure out what Hawai’i was running and adapt our offense.”
On what this game means…
“It means a lot to us as a team, especially considering how far we’ve come. We just need to keep working, there’s still a lot we can improve on. We’re going to get back to work tomorrow.”
On being in first place in the West division of the Mountain West…
“When you are in first place in the division, teams are going to be coming for you. Hawai’i is a good team and we didn’t take this game lightly, every game is a big game.”
On going to play in Wyoming after playing in Hawai’i…
“I haven’t looked at the weather conditions in Laramie, because I go week by week. As a team, we will adjust to whatever the weather is.”
Tobenna Okeke, OLB
On having four sacks and two forced fumbles…
"It’s a compliment to the backend. They held the receivers long enough for me to get back there and make those plays.”
On what the game plan was…
“It was the same game plan we have every week, get to the ball and stop the runs. The coaching staff had great play calling, I give them all the credit. We were just focused on executing the plays and doing our jobs.”
On the weather delay…
“We were focused on coming out of the delay and taking the momentum to our side. That’s what we did. We’ve never had a situation like that before, but I’m proud of the way we responded to it.”
On being in first place in the West division…
“There’s a lot we can learn from the game tonight. We have to keep working; we can’t let up on the gas right now. Being hunted comes with being number one, but we are going to keep our week-by-week mentality. We are going to keep going into each week with hard work and preparation.”
