Nov. 18, 2017
Pregame
• Game captains are Malik Forrester, Aaron Mitchell, James Bailey and KeeSean Johnson.
• Wyoming wins the toss and elects to receive the ball.
First Quarter
• Fresno State started in a two tight end set with Kyle Riddering and Jared Rice. Josh Hokit was in the backfield. It was the third time this season the Bulldogs started 12 personnel.
• Malik Forrester recorded his third sack of the season on the defense’s first play of the game, pushing Wyoming back from their own 21 to 15.
• Jared Rice’s gain of 32 yards, the longest gain of the first half, put Fresno State into the red zone for the first time – that amounted to the Bulldogs’ first points.
• Jimmy Camacho converted a 27-yard field goal, his 18th of the season.
• With its field goal, Fresno State scored first, marking the eighth time they scored first this season.
- Fresno State is now 7-1 when scoring first this season.
• Fresno State shutout its opponent in the first quarter for the seventh time this season. The ‘Dogs have allowed 51 points combined in the first quarter (4.6 points per game).
• Fresno State held Wyoming to 36 yards total offense in the first quarter. A single-game season-low.
Second Quarter
• Fresno State’s George Helmuth stopped Wyoming on fourth-and-1. Fresno State has stopped its opponent on 5-of-18 tries
• Points off turnovers: a muffed punt by Wyoming was recovered by the Bulldogs at the Wyoming 21-yard line. It was turned into six points with one pass (7 sec. drive).
• Sudden change: Fresno State airs it out to Ronnie Rivers. His first TD catch of his career and longest career catch.
HALFTIME
• Seventh time this season Fresno State has forced at least two turnovers in a game. Fresno State is 5-1 in those games (now 6-1 after defeating Wyoming).
• It was the eighth time Fresno State had a lead going into the second half, ‘Dogs are 7-0 in those games (now 8-0 after defeating Wyoming).
• Wyoming had 126 yards of offense in first half and Fresno State has not allowed 200 yards in a half in MW play.
Third Quarter
• Key first down, third-and-3, McMaryion keeper for 8 yards that extended the Bulldogs would-be scoring drive.
• Key drive: 6:29 drive, 13 plays, 83 yards. Held to field goal – five double-digit plays (11, 12, 14, 16, 30 yards). Increased the Bulldogs’ lead to 13-0
• Jimmy Camacho hit 18th field goal of the season – 29 yards.
• Key moment: third-and-5 conversation from their own 20 – a 44-yard pass to Jamire Jordan from McMaryion.
Fourth Quarter
• Wyoming forced its first turnover with 12:48 left in the game, fumble by KeeSean Johnson. First down at the Wyoming 18-yard line. It was the 28th turnover created by the Cowboys this season.
• Game ender: Robert Stanley stops Nick Rush for no gain on fouth-and-10 from the Fresno State 27-yard line. Fresno State held Wyoming to 1-of-3 on 4th downs in the game.
GAME
• KeeSean Johnson extended his consecutive games with at least one catch streak to 33 games. He entered the game one of 15 individuals in the nation that carries a streak of more than 30 games.
• Fresno State allowed one sack, in the third quarter against Wyoming. The Bulldogs had not allowed a sack since the second quarter of the Bulldogs’ game vs. UNLV on Oct. 28. Fresno State has allowed seven sacks in 11 games this season.
• Fresno State has tied the program record for win improvement. The 2017 Bulldogs and 1929 Bulldogs both set win improvement of seven games.
• Fresno State took the all-time series lead over Wyoming, 6-5. Fresno State is 2-0 on the road vs. Wyoming since joining the Mountain West.
• Fresno State clinched its third West Division title and berth to the Mountain West Championship game. It is the third in the five years since the inception of the divisional format was installed in 2013.
• George Helmuth set a career-high in tackles (11).
• Fresno State won the turnover battle, 2-1. Fresno State improves to 6-1 in games win leading the turnover battle.
• Jeffrey Allison recorded double-digit tackles for the fourth time this season.
• Jaron Bryant registered his first career forced fumble.
• Marcus McMaryion has not thrown an interception in now five of seven starts.
