Fresno State vs. Boise State
Mountain West Championship
Dec. 2, 2017
Head Coach Jeff Tedford
On the game…
“It was a hard fought game. Congratulations to Boise State’s program. We didn’t accomplish what we came here to accomplish, but you have to give them a lot of credit. Our team fought hard but we didn’t make enough plays down the stretch.”
“I’m really proud of this team and our staff. We fell short tonight, but this team has accomplished so much. This team rejuvenated the town of Fresno. We have a lot to be proud of, these guys worked really hard to get to this point. I told them in the locker room that they shouldn’t hang their heads because they accomplished a lot this year, when no one really believed in them after last season. Last season this team only won one game, and for them to turn it around and make it to the conference championship game, that says a lot about these guys. Even though we fell short tonight, I am so proud of these guys and I love them. We’re going to go back to the drawing board and we’ll be back.”
On the second half…
“We had poor field positions during the third quarter, they had us backed up. I thought we flipped it in the fourth quarter, with hopes we could make something happen. We just didn’t capitalize during the second half, and we didn’t convert enough third downs.”
Marcus McMaryion, QB
On the game…
“There’s a lot to learn from tonight’s game. This stings but we have one more game play, so we’re going to watch the film and get better from it.”
Jeffrey Allison, DB
On the defense holding Boise State to 17 points …
We came out to play, this was a big game. We wanted to stay together and give our offense the chance to get out on the field. We just wanted to compete.
