Fresno State-San Diego State Postgame Notes
Pregame
• Team Captains: Marcus McMaryion, George Helmuth, Micah St. Andrew and Juju Hughes.
• San Diego State won the toss and elected to receive. It was the fourth time this season the Bulldogs lost the toss.
• The weather at kickoff was 54 degrees with light north wind.
First Quarter
• Jamire Jordan scored an 86-yard touchdown on the third play from scrimmage of the game. It was the longest play from scrimmage since Oct. 27, 2012 when Derek Carr connected for an 89-yard pass at Bulldog Stadium versus New Mexico. It was Jordan’s second career 85-plus yard TD reception, having also registered an 85-yarder from Chason Virgil on Sept. 17, 2016 at Toledo.
• Jamire Jordan joins Jalen Saunders as the only Bulldog in program history to own multiple receptions of 85 yards or more. Saunders caught an 88-yard TD from Derek Carr on Dec. 3, 2011 against San Diego State and an 86-yard TD pass from Derek Carr on Sept. 17, 2012 against North Dakota.
• Fresno State allowed the longest play from scrimmage this season, surrendering a 75-yard touchdown pass. It tied the game 7-7 with 6:21 left in the first quarter.
• Fresno State outgained SDSU in the opening quarter 125-103.
• The 7-7 tie at the end of the quarter marked the second tie game at the end of one quarter this season (Toledo).
Second Quarter
• Fresno State had allowed eight plays of 30 yards or more entering the game. The Aztecs’ 34-Yard reception Trevillion from Chapman to the FS34 in the second quarter marked the second of the game.
• Asa Fuller put Fresno State in front 10-7 with 6:47 left in the first half. Fuller connected on a 25-yarder, his 10th make of the season.
• The Aztecs gashed Fresno State again for an explosive play, for its second score, a 70-yard touchdown. The Bulldogs had allowed one 70-plus yard play in the previous 10 games before allowing two in the first half against San Diego State.
• Blake Cusick placed back-to-back punts inside the 10-yard line to close the half. He placed one at the 3-yard line and one at the 5-yard line. They were his 10th and 11th punts placed inside the 10-yard line.

• Fresno State trailed at halftime for the second time this season (SDSU 14, FS 10).

Third Quarter
• Fresno State opened the second half with a score for the fifth-straight game. The ‘Dogs took a 17-14 lead with 10:56 remaining in the half
- KeeSean Johnson topped 100 yards receiving during the Bulldogs second half opening drive.
• Fresno State outscored the Aztecs, 7-0, to take a 17-14 lead. Fresno State entered the game 16-2 under Tedford with a lead after three quarters.
• Fresno State shutout its opponent in the third quarter for the eighth time this season.
Fourth Quarter
• Jordan Mims scored his fifth touchdown of the season, and 11th of his career. It was a 1-yard rush to cap a 10 play, 70-yard drive (4:36 TOP). Fresno State led 23-14 after the PAT was blocked with 12:40 left in the game.
• At 5:51 Asa Fuller missed a 40-yard field goal. He moved to 10-of-17.
GAME
• Fresno State captured its second consecutive MW West Division title and fourth in six years.
• Fresno State has won 18 of its last 22 games overall.
• Fresno State extended its nation-leading streak of limiting opponents under 30 points to 22 games.
• In six seasons since the inception of the Mountain West Championship game, the winner of the Bulldogs-Aztecs game has represented the West Division in the championship game.
• Fresno State earned its ninth win on Saturday; the Bulldogs have won at least nine games in four of their seven seasons as a member of the Mountain West.
• The Bulldogs narrowed its all-time series deficit to the Aztecs to 25-29-4.
• Fresno State shut its opponents out in the second half for the fourth time this season.
• San Diego State registered 57 total yards in the second half after posting 225 yards in the first half.
• San Diego State went 4-of-13 (31%) on third downs in the game.
• KeeSean Johnson extended his nation-leading streak of consecutive games with at least one catch to 47. It adds to his existing program record and ties the Mountain West record for second place. He trails the leader, Dominic Rufran (Wyoming, 2011-14) with 49, followed by Casey Flair (UNLV, 2005-08) and Jovon Bouknight (Wyoming, 2002-05) who posted 47 in their respective careers. .
• KeeSean Johnson became the fourth player in program history to record back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons
• KeeSean Johnson logged his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season and ninth of his career.
• KeeSean Johnson registered a season-best 10 receptions.
• Marcus McMaryion completed over 70 percent of his passes for the sixth time in 11 games.
• Fresno State held San Diego State’s rushing offense to 64 yards after coming into the game averaging 166.1 per game.
• Fresno State did not turn the ball over for the sixth time in 11 games. Fresno State has turned the ball over one time in the last six games.
• Official attendance for Saturday’s game was 36,123; the largest number since Derek Carr's jersey retirement night on Sept. 2, 2017.
