• San Jose State won the coin toss and elected to defer. Fresno State opened the game with the ball.
GAME NOTES
• In its 82nd all-time contest, Fresno State increased its series lead over San Jose State to 42-37-3. It is the longest running series the Bulldogs have with any opponent.
• Fresno State retained the Valley Trophy after taking it back in 2017. Since the trophy’s inception in 2013, the Bulldogs are 3-for-6 in staking claim of the trophy.
• By outscoring San Jose State 14-0 in third quarter, Fresno State is now outscoring opponents 147-21 in the third quarter this season.
• Fresno State earned its 10th win on Saturday; it marks back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins – the second time in school history the Bulldogs have posted back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins (1988-89).
• Fresno State will play in its second consecutive Mountain West Championship game and fourth in six years next Saturday.
• Fresno State has won 19 of its last 23 games overall.
• Fresno State extended its nation-leading streak of limiting opponents under 30 points to 23 games.
• The Bulldogs have now posted 10 wins or better 11 times in program history.
• Fresno State shut its opponent out in the first half for the second time this season.
• San Jose State went 5-of-16 (31%) on third downs – marking back-to-back weeks the Bulldogs have held its opponents to 31 percent or under on third down conversions.
• KeeSean Johnson extended his nation-leading streak of consecutive games with at least one catch to 48. It adds to his existing program record and now ranks second in Mountain West history behind the leader, Dominic Rufran (Wyoming, 2011-14) with 49.
• KeeSean Johnson logged his sixth 100-yard game of the season and 10th of his career. It is the third-most 100-yard games in program history in a single season.
• KeeSean Johnson registered a career-high 173 receiving yards against San Jose State (with seven receptions).
• Now with 3,390 career receiving yards, KeeSean Johnson became Fresno State’s all-time leader in career receiving yards, surpassing Charlie Jones’ record of 3,344 that stood since 1995.
• Marcus McMaryion completed 91.6 percent of his passes in the second half going 11-of-12. McMaryion was 20-of-29 passing in the game (69%).
• Jared Rice surpassed Bear Pascoe’s program best single season record by a tight end of single season receptions and receiving yards. Pascoe had 45 receptions for 553 yards in 2007. With Rice’s three catches for 49 yards, he now has 50 receptions for 580 yards through 12 games in 2018.
• With wins by Minnesota and Wyoming on Saturday, Fresno State finished the regular season facing seven bowl eligible teams. The Bulldogs went 5-2 in those games. (Wins-Toledo, Nevada, Wyoming, Hawaii and San Diego State/Losses-Minnesota and Boise State).
• Fresno State surpassed 500 yards of total offense for the third time this season (Toledo/Hawaii).
• With his first career interception, Arron Mosby returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown. It was the Bulldogs sixth non-offensive score this season and third interception returned for a touchdown this season.
• Arron Mosby's 95-yard interception return was the fourth-longest pick-6 in program history.
First Quarter
• Jamire Jordan returned the opening kickoff 65 yards. It was the longest return since Jordan’s 71-yard kickoff return on Sept. 30, 2017 versus Nevada. The 65-yarder was his second-longest career return.
• Rivers’ third rush of the game was for 33 yards, which put him at 41 yards on three carries. It was the Bulldogs’ 12th explosive rush play of the season and sixth explosive rush play in the last five games.
• Jared Rice, recipient of a 30-yard pass to the San Jose State 23-yard line fumbled the ball at first contact. It was the Bulldogs’ fourth fumble in 12 games. It was the Bulldogs’ eight turnover in 12 games.
• The game was tied 0-0 after one quarter. It was the second scoreless game this season after one quarter of play.
• Fresno State outgained San Jose State in the first quarter 129 to 49.
Second Quarter
• Mike Bell recorded two TFLs on the same set of downs, dropping SJSU behind the chains four yards on second down, and then on a fourth-and-1 attempt for a loss of one that gave Fresno State the ball on their own 31-yard line with 4:07 left in the half. Bell had 1.0 TFLs all season before picking up 2.0 in three plays.
• Asa Fuller connected on a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left in the half. Fresno State entered the game 7-0 this season when scoring first.
• McMaryion was 9-of-17 passing for 75 yards in the first half. It was a .529 completion percentage
• Despite only three points, the Bulldogs registered 189 yards. It was the sixth-fewest yards in a first half this season.
Third Quarter
• Cusick registered his 28th punt inside the 20-yard line; pining SJSU at their own 15-yard line with 8:52 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs' punt was on their first drive of the second half. Fresno State had scored on its opening drive of the second half the previous five games in a row.
• KeeSean Johnson’s third catch of the game went for 45 yards, setting the ‘Dogs up with first-and-goal from the one. Jordan Mims punched it in on the next play to give Fresno State a 10-0 lead with 5:30 remaining. It was Mims’ sixth TD score this season and 12th career.
• KeeSean Johnson’s 31-yard touchdown catch not only gave Fresno State a 17-0 lead with 32 second left in the third quarter, it made him Fresno State’s all-time leader in receiving yards in program history, surpassing Charlie Jones’ record of 3,344 that stood since 1995.
Fourth Quarter
• Fresno State took a 24-7 lead with 11:59 left in the game when McMaryion connected with Rivers for an 18-yard score. It was McMaryion’s first second TD toss of the game and Rivers third receiving score of the season.
