Fresno State-Toledo Postgame Notes
Pregame
• Team Captains: Marcus McMaryion, George Helmuth, Kyle Riddering and James Bailey.
• Fresno State wins win the toss and elects to defer. Toledo received the opening kickoff.
• Temperature at kickoff was 76 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Northwest 8mph wind.
First Quarter
• Fresno State scored on its opening drive for the third time four games. The Bulldogs’ one miss was in their loss at Minnesota.
• KeeSean Johnson extended his nation-leading streak to 40 consecutive games with at least one catch in a game during the opening possession.
• Marcus McMaryion was 7-of-7 for 58 yards to five different pass catchers on the Bulldogs’ opening drive.
• Chris Coleman caught his first career pass converting a third-and-5 from the Bulldogs’ own 35-yard line.
• Blake Cusick’s first punt was downed at the 2-yard line – marking his 10th punt of 13 total this season downed inside the 20-yard line this season.
• Total yards was tied 98-98 at the end of the first quarter.
• The score was tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
• Each team had two full drives in the first quarter; both teams scored a TD once and punted once.
Second Quarter
• The first play of the second quarter was on a third-and-5–a 15-yard personal foul on top of a 36 yard rush—moving the ball from the Toledo 19-yard line to the Fresno State 30-yard line.
• Toledo took the lead 10-7 with 13:08 left in the second quarter following a 46-yard make.
• At drive start 13:08–McMaryion had his first incompletion of the game–throwing the ball away out of bounds–after eight straight completions to open the game.
• Drive start 13:08: McMaryion was hit at the line of scrimmage and the ball was picked off, McMaryions’s second interception of the season. The ball was intercepted by defensive lineman Jamal Hines.
• Toledo extended its lead to 13-7 with 10:22 left in the second quarter. Toledo produced three points off McMaryion’s turnover.
• Jordan Mims caught a career-long 55 yard pass after setting a career-best 45 yard pass last time out against UCLA. The 55-yard receptions set up a seven-yard TD throw to KeeSean Johnson on the next play.
• KeeSean Johnson scored his second TD of the season and 18th of his career to give the Bulldogs a 14-13 lead.
• The Bulldogs had two explosive plays on its six-play drive. Josh Hokit ran for a season-long 21 yards. Jamire Jordan caught a 36-yard pass.
• Kyle Riddering caught his second TD in the last two games. He has three in his career.
HALFTIME
• Fresno State had 346 yards in the first half – the most this season, topping 225 vs. Idaho in the opener.
• Jordan Mims led the team in receiving with 113 yards on five receptions – both career highs set in one half.
• Jordan Mims’ 113 yards rushing marks the first running back to eclipse 100 yards receiving in a game since Dec. 31, 2000.
Third Quarter
• Fresno State scored on its opening drive of the second half for the second time in four games to give the Bulldogs a 35-13 lead.
• On the drive, McMaryion tossed his fourth touchdown pass of the game, matching a Fresno State best four touchdown throws set at Hawaii in 2017. His career-best performance was five as an Oregon State Beaver on Nov. 19, 2016 versus Arizona.
• KeeSean Johnson scored his second TD of the game, marking sixth multi-TD effort in a game.
• At 4:42 in third quarter Ronnie Rivers entered the game at running back and got his first carry of the season on that snap (6 yards).
• Fresno State increased its lead to 49-13 following McMaryion’s six-yard touchdown rush. McMaryion has accounted for five total touchdowns in two consecutive games.
GAME

• Fresno State has three wins through its first four games for the first time since 2013.
