Fresno State-UCONN Post-Game Quotes
Head Coach Jeff TedfordÂ
On the game...Â
"We had a hard time defending the passer and the penalties hurt us by giving them plays. We weren't disciplined enough. We couldn't make any big plays."Â
On Logan Fife and the offensive line...
"There were a couple unfortunate things that happened. The ball slipped out of his hand on that first drive and then a pass was tipped for an interception. Those were both in the red zone. In terms of pass protection, we'll have to look back at film and see where the problems were. It didn't seem like Logan was all that comfortable in the pocket. You have to give UCONN credit, they are good upfront. The strength of their team is in their defensive front."
What went well for UCONN at the end of the game...Â
"They hit a deep ball that changed their field position and then the run at the end. Their offensive line played well, at the end we couldn't stop the run when we needed to. The defense played well for the most part but we gave up too many third and mediums, and then the two face mask penalties along with a personal foul. I don't care who you are playing, you can't play with that kind of lack of discipline."
On starting conference play next week...
"Conference play is about to start and we need to get a lot better. We had a couple offensive linemen go down during the game. We need definitely need a gut check on who we are and what we are doing. We need to be tougher in tight games. We had too many penalties and we didn't execute well enough. We are going back to the drawing board before we start conference play."Â
Nikko Remigio, Sr., WR
On the loss...Â
"This is not like us. This is not on brand for the type of football that this program builds and puts out. At the end of the say we need to get better."Â
On his return touchdown...
"I had to make a few guys miss and I ended up going all the way, but it wasn't enough. I gotta get back and make some corrections."Â
