Fresno State-Nevada Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Jeff Tedford
On the win…
“It was a team effort. I thought the defense played really well in the first half. I thought the offense played well. We didn’t run the ball very well in the first half but we had a couple big ones in the second half. It was really nice to get a total team victory. These kids have worked really hard. This coaching staff has worked really hard. I’m really proud of them all. The resilience of this team to become the West Division Champions.”
Jake Haener, Sr., QB
On becoming the West Division Champions…
“It’s great to get the win and become the West Division Champions. I got here in 2019 and my goal every year has been to win a Mountain West Championship. I finally have the opportunity to do that. I’m proud of these guys and the way we fought in that locker room. After the Boise game when we were 1-4 and things weren’t looking great, those guys in that room stayed poised and stayed confident. Here we are after winning six straight and we have the opportunity to go play there again. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Jordan Mims, Sr., RB
On becoming the West Division Champions…
“It’s exciting for this team, exciting for the Seniors. The last time we went to the championship, I broke my foot so I didn’t get to play. I’m just happy to have the opportunity to play in a championship game.”
David Perales, Sr., DE
On playing the championship game in Boise…
“That’s what I wanted. If we had the opportunity to play at home, I wouldn’t want to play at home. I want to go over there and compete. We’ve been through a lot of adversity this season. I believe in the guys. We are going to work hard and get better each day.
