Fresno State-Utah State Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Jeff Tedford
On the game…
“It’s very difficult to slow them down. They are really explosive. They have really good skill players. We didn’t tackle well tonight, but you have to find a way to win.”
“We some guys stepped up and made some big plays. Mac Dalena went down early, so Josiah Freeman had to step and make big plays for us. We were banged up, had a short week and had to find a way to win on the road. I’m really proud of our staff.”
Logan Fife, Jr., QB
On the game…
“It feels good and I feel a little relieved. The defense stepped up when they needed to and the offense took control of what they could. It was a long game. We knew it was going to be a four-quarter game. Utah State puts up points and they fight to the end. We just had to keep putting drives together. We had to keep scoring and give our defense a chance.”
Tre Watson, Jr. TE
On the game…
“It was a dog fight. We knew it was going to be a four-quarter game. We tip our hat to Utah State, they came out and played a great game. Morice made a big play to send us home with a win. It was a great game.
On Logan making his first start…
We’ve always had confidence in Logan. We go by the motto: one play at a time, one drive at a time, one score at a time. That was our mindset coming into this game and that’s how we won this game.
Morice Norris Jr., Sr., NKL
On the game-winning interception…
“I was just mirroring my receiver. He probably had a step on me, but when I’m in those situations, I put myself in the position to make the receiver and the quarterback do what I want them to do. I didn’t think he was going to throw that because I was on his top shoulder, but I just undercut it and made the play.”
“I felt relieved. I know my boys were tired. I gave up a big play earlier and I don’t typically give up deep passes so I needed to make up for that. I wanted to be the not to get my guys off the field. I told myself that I was going to make the play to the win the game. Defense wins championships.”
