- Fresno State recorded its first shutout against a Power-5 opponent since defeating Oregon State 27-0 on Sept. 13, 1986.
- Fresno State handed Arizona State its first shutout at home since Nov. 12, 1988.
- Fresno State has now recorded a shutout in three-straight seasons.
- Fresno State defeated two Power 5 opponents (Purdue and Arizona State) in regular season competition on the road in the same season for the first time since 2004.
- Fresno State extends its active winning streak to 12-straight games. It is the third-longest winning streak in program history. The Bulldogs have a chance to tie the third-longest (13 games) streak next Saturday.
- 12-straight wins continues on as the nation’s second-longest active winning streak.
- Fresno State starts its season 3-0 for the first time since 2013.
- Fresno State and Air Force remain as the only undefeated teams in the Mountain West after Week 3.
- Fresno State forced eight turnovers in a game for the first time during the 21st century. It was the most given up by Arizona State since 1995.
- Fresno State had five interceptions in a game for the first time since Sept. 1, 2018 versus Idaho.
- Fresno State had three fumble recoveries in a game for the first time since Oct. 29, 2022 against San Diego State.
- Fresno State scored a touchdown on its opening drive for the second consecutive game.
- Fresno State forced a turnover on each of Arizona State’s first three possessions, turning each of those into a field goal.
- Fresno State recorded its second goal-line stand of the year on ASU’s fourth possession (Week 1 at Purdue).
- Fresno State shutout its first opponent in an opening half since Dec. 17, 2022 in the LA Bowl against Washington State. Like tonight, the Bulldogs led that game 16-0 at the half.
- Fresno State’s defense held Arizona State to 188 yards of offense with only 42 of those coming on the ground. It was the second straight Pac-12 opponent that the Bulldogs have held below 200 yards of offense and 50 yards rushing (Washington State, 2022).
Offensive Notes
- Mikey Keene started the game 14-of-14 passing, his most consecutive completions in a game this year. First incompletion came on the first play of the second quarter.
- Keene had more completions in the first quarter than Arizona State had plays (14-11).
- Keene threw for 129 yards in the first quarter, the most passing yards for the Bulldogs in a first quarter in 2023.
- Keene was 32-of-49 passing, both career highs, surpassing the 31-of-44 which he had in the season opener at Purdue.
- Erik Brooks finished with 11 catches, the most receptions by a Bulldog since Josh Harper (12) on Oct. 10, 2014 at UNLV.
- Brooks had his second career 100-yard receiving game, both coming this season against P5 opponents.
- Jalen Moss caught second touchdown of the season, a 19-yard pass from Keene in the first quarter.
- Moss surpassed his career-high in yards receiving in just the first quarter with 43. He finished with 46 on the night.
- Jaelen Gill caught his second touchdown of the season to open the second half, a 42-yard catch and run from Keene. It is the longest touchdown for the Bulldogs this season, and second-longest offensive play.
- Gill finished with 72 yards receiving, his most in a game this year.
- On the Bulldogs’ final possession of the first half, Jonathan Arceneaux recorded his first and second career receptions on back-to-back plays (13 yards).
- OL Osmar Velez got his first career start at left guard.
Defensive Notes
- Carlton Johnson became the first Bulldog to grab three interceptions in a game since Phillip Thomas against Colorado on Sept. 15, 2012. All three INTs came against a different Sun Devil quarterback.
- Kemari Munier-Bailey grabbed his second fumble recovery in as many games on QB Drew Pyne’s first snap of the game on third-and-9 at the FS32. Morice Norris Jr. forced the fumble, the second of his career.
- Munier-Bailey forced a fumble in the second quarter.
- Munier-Bailey became the first Bulldog since David Perales at Utah State on Nov. 14, 2020 to force one fumble and recover one fumble in the same game.
- Jacob Holmes picked up his second career fumble on the play.
- Cam Lockridge had his first interception of the season in the third quarter. It was the sixth in his two seasons with the Bulldogs.
- In the third quarter, Merhauti Xepera recovered his first fumble as Bulldog. Levelle Bailey forced the fumble, the fourth of his career. Xepera is in his first season on the defense, having made the transition to DE from TE in the offseason.
- Al’zillion Hamilton made his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
- Charles Remlinger got his first career start at defensive end, and earned his first career sack.
Special Team Notes
- Dylan Lynch started the game 3-of-3 on field goals, connecting from 39, 30 and 29, before his first miss.
- Lynch set a new program record for seven field goal attempts in a game.
- Lynch tied the program record for five field goals made in a game. It is the most since Barry Belli vs. Utah State in 1984.
