San Diego State-Fresno State Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Matt Entz
On the game…
“We struggled. Defensively, I thought we played well at times. We got put in some precarious situations. We gave up field goals a few times when they had turnovers, and that pick-six late in the game. We will continue to learn and grow. I am disappointed that we couldn’t run the ball better, or that we got away from the run when it was 16-0 and down two scores. I felt like we still had opportunities there, we were moving the ball. There were some subjective penalties at different times, that knocked us off course.”
“I think that we had ample opportunities to move the football today. We have to help each other out offensively, and that includes all 11 that are out on the field.
On the offensive struggles…
“We have to be great at the simple things. Which is blocking, communicating, catching the football and runs after contact. Those kinds of things. We are not where we need to be right now. We have to continue to grow. We are better than what we are putting on the field right now and that’s what is frustrating to me. I see them put in hard work all week and then there is a hesitation when we get out there on Saturdays. We become indecisive and hesitant. We have to figure out why.”
On the quarterback change…
“We talk about, ‘the ball is the team’, and we weren’t living that. We had turned the ball over too many times and too often. We were also trying to get some leadership out of the players on offense.”
