Marvin Adams is entering his second season as the director of basketball operations for the Fresno State men’s basketball program after joining Hutson's staff in 2018. Adams is responsible for overseeing all daily program operations, community service, team travel, practice coordination and other administrative logistics for the program.
With Adams as a key member of the staff, Fresno State earned a 23-9 record during the 2018-19 season and ranked ninth nationally in 3-point field goals per game (10.7), 16th in total 3-point field goals and 24th nationally in both 3-point field goal percentage defense (225-735, 30.6 percent) and 3-point field goal percentage offense (342-897, 38.1 percent). The Bulldogs’ defense also led the MW in steals (228, 7.1 steals per game) and turnovers forced (13.7 per game). Three Bulldogs earned All-MW honors and senior guard/forward Sam Bittner earned the program’s first Academic All-American recognition. Fresno State was also one of two MW teams to go 7-2 on the road in conference play, which tied for the second-most MW road wins by a team in 20 seasons of MW basketball.
Adams spent the 2017-18 season as the lead assistant coach at Cal State Northridge and had been a graduate assistant coach at San Diego State from 2015-17, when he was a part of the staff when the Aztecs won the 2016 Mountain West regular season championship. Before that, Adams served as an assistant coach with Village Christian School in Sun Valley from 2012-2015. During his tenure with the Crusaders, Village Christian posted a stellar 83-12 record and won back-to-back CIF Southern Section championships in 2014 and 2015.
Before transitioning into coaching, Adams played collegiate basketball at Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C. While with the Blue Bears, Adams helped the team reach the conference championship for the first time in school history.
Adams earned a degree in business administration in 2012 from Livingstone University and Master's in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.
