Casey DeMello

Assistant Coach

Casey DeMello joined the Fresno State baseball staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season, bringing collegiate and summer baseball coaching experience to the Diamond ’Dogs.

Prior to arriving in Fresno, DeMello served as the hitting coach for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2026. With the Gatemen, he developed training programs, led practice sessions focused on skill development and game preparation, and helped coordinate game strategies.

DeMello served as Sacramento State's Director of Baseball Operations and Catching Coordinator beginning in 2024. His responsibilities included managing the program's daily operations, coordinating drills and training methods for catchers and assisting with the program's summer camps.

From 2022-24, DeMello was an assistant coach at Whitman College, working primarily with the team's hitters and outfielders. He developed scouting reports and game plans for upcoming opponents and helped Whitman break its team home run record in consecutive seasons. During his two seasons with the program, DeMello helped develop four first-team all-conference selections, including Division III All-American Ben Parker, along with eight second-team or honorable mention selections.

DeMello began his collegiate coaching career at Eastern Oregon University in 2021. He served as the program's recruiting coordinator, worked with hitters and catchers, coached third base and organized practice plans.

He also spent the summer of 2025 as an assistant coach with the Lincoln Potters, working with the team's baserunners while coordinating offensive and defensive early work.

DeMello earned his bachelor's degree in sport management from Clarke University in 2023 after earning an associate degree in social sciences from American River College in 2019.
