Â
Diamond comes to Fresno State from up the 99, spending his undergraduate and early career at Sacramento State. He was the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator for the 2023 season. In this role, Diamond was responsible for evaluating high school athletes in California, Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, and all California junior colleges.
Â
In 2023, Sacramento State had the No. 2 freshman class in the FCS and the No. 3 FCS transfer class with Diamond on the recruiting staff.
Â
He had success in his role with the Hornets, signing five players that had multiple Power 5 offers and several eventual All-Big Sky talents. The day-to-day recruiting efforts increased behind Diamond’s assistance as he had a hand in evaluating film, communicating with potential student-athletes and preparing official visits. He served as a recruiting assistant from January 2020 until his promotion in May 2023.
Â
In his time at Sacramento State, the football program advanced to the playoffs four years in a row, for the first time in program history. Sacramento State was the Big Sky champion in 2021 and 2022. The Hornets would win the first two playoff games in program history during Diamond’s tenure.
Â
He learned scouting and evaluating techniques through the Scouting Academy in 2021. The Scouting Academy is led by former NFL executives and coaches who taught the process and procedures of scouting.
Â
Diamond earned his undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies from Sacramento State in 2022, then went on to earn his teaching credential from Cal State Teach in 2023.
