Jacob Mastro has been a member of the Fresno State Department of Athletics since 2010 and currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement.
In his role, Mastro oversees the strategic direction and daily operations of the Bulldogs' marketing and fan engagement efforts, with a focus on driving revenue, increasing attendance, and enhancing the overall game-day atmosphere. He leads promotional strategy across all sports, including integrated marketing campaigns, social media initiatives, and in-venue entertainment designed to elevate the fan experience and strengthen the Fresno State brand.
Since 2020, under Mastro's leadership, Fresno State football attendance has increased by nearly 30 percent, rising from a previous five-year average of approximately 29,600 fans per game to more than 38,000 per game. During that span, the Bulldogs have consistently ranked among the top programs in the Mountain West Conference in attendance and among the nation's leading Group of Five programs.
In 2026, Mastro led the launch of Fresno State Athletics' first-ever Fan Experience Advisory Council, an innovative initiative designed to bring the voice of the Red Wave directly into the evolution of the Bulldog game-day experience. The council serves as a collaborative group of passionate fans who provide feedback on traditions, in-game entertainment, and the overall in-venue atmosphere, helping shape the future of fan engagement at Fresno State.
Mastro serves as the primary game-day producer for Fresno State home athletic events, where he has built a reputation for delivering high-energy, fan-first experiences that create a distinctive and engaging Bulldog atmosphere.
He also directs the department's student internship program, which is widely recognized as a pipeline for emerging talent in the sports industry. Through the program, he mentors and develops students who have gone on to careers in collegiate athletics, professional sports, and related industries.
A recognized leader in the industry, Mastro is actively involved with the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). He has served as a NACMA mentor for the past four years, was selected as a panelist at the 2023 and 2026 NACMA Conventions, presenting on leading young professionals (2023) and raising a family while working in sports (2026), and participated in the 2023 NACMA Mid-Manager Cohort. In 2026, he was selected to serve on the NACMA Awards Committee, where he served as award chair for the Ticket Revenue Campaign and Affinity Group Marketing Award categories.
A proud Fresno State alumnus, Mastro earned his bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Sports and Entertainment Facility Management in 2013.
A native of Reedley, California, Mastro resides in Fresno with his wife, Catherine, and their two daughters, Mallory and Madelyn.
