Ryan Dobson returned to Fresno State as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season, bringing professional playing, scouting and player development experience back to his alma mater.

Dobson previously worked as a Southern California Area Supervisor for the Atlanta Braves, identifying and evaluating amateur prospects throughout Southern California, Hawaii and other parts of the country. During his tenure, Dobson served as the signing scout for four MLB Draft selections, including Nacho Alvarez Jr., who reached the major leagues in 2024.

Before joining the Braves, Dobson worked in the Arizona Diamondbacks' Scout Ahead Program from 2020-21. In that role, he identified amateur prospects throughout California, compiled prospect lists for future MLB Draft classes, produced hitter and pitcher follow reports and participated in player meetings.

Dobson's professional baseball career began when he was selected by the Diamondbacks in the 2017 MLB Draft. He spent two seasons playing in Arizona's minor league system from 2017-19.

In addition to his professional baseball experience, Dobson has worked with Baseball Generation since 2017, providing private and group hitting instruction, offensive and defensive skill development, player evaluation and development, and coordinating camps and clinics.

Dobson played collegiately at Fresno State and earned his bachelor's degree in communication in 2017. During his time as a Bulldog, he was a three-time Academic All-Mountain West selection and Fresno State Scholar-Athlete.
