The 1999-2000 Western Athletic Conference men's basketball media poll has tabbed Fresno State as this year's favorite.
The Bulldogs received 128 points and 12 of the 17 first-place votes. Tulsa, with 118 points, earned four first-place votes to finish second. Fresno State was also picked to win the 2000 WAC Tournament on 13 of the 17 ballots. Tulsa, again, finished second with three votes followed by SMU with one nod. The Championship will be played at the Bulldogs' Selland Arena, March 9-11.
Also picked were the preseason Player and Newcomer of the Year honors. Fresno State senior guard Courtney Alexander earned Player of the Year accolades on 10 ballots, while Bulldog sophomore Travis Robinson tied for Newcomer of the Year. Tying Robinson with three votes a piece are Hawai'i sophomore Predrag Savovic and Tulsa junior David Shelton.
The Bulldogs will tip off their season at Georgia State Friday, November 19.
