Bulldog Volleyball Takes San Jose State to Five

Fresno, Calif. - Up two games to none, Fresno State was looking to break the San Jose State Spartans three-match win streak over itself.
However, SJSU responded back by winning the next three as the Bulldogs dropped to 12-11 overall and 6-4 in the WAC with a 15-13, 15-7, 6-15, 5-15, 13-15 five-game loss Friday night, Nov. 5, in the North Gym.
Fresno State's Anamie Buckelew had 22 kills in the match and notched her 1,000th career kill in game one against the Spartans. Adrienne Sankey added 13 kills and four total blocks en route to hitting .364 on the evening (13-1-33). Malia Malu posted a match-high 16 digs.
As a team, the Bulldogs had a season-high 10 service aces but was out-killed (75-61), out-hit (.281-.196), out-dug (72-59) and out-blocked (8-6).
For San Jose State, Joslynn Gallop had her second 30-kill match against the Bulldogs this season. Gallop led all players with 30 kills and hit .386 (30-8-57) while adding nine digs and four total blocks. Brianna Blair added 21 kills and had seven digs.
With five matches remaining on the year, Fresno State will travel to Tulsa and Rice next week. The Bulldogs will meet Tulsa on Thurday, Nov. 11, and Rice on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Bulldogs will then close out their home schedule on Thursday, Nov. 18 with SMU and Friday, Nov. 19 agaisnt TCU. Both match times are 7:00 pm starts.
